E' quanto chiedono oggi all'amministrazione comunale di Ribera i consiglieri Francesco Montalbano e Ina Picarella che non esitano a parlare di strage dei buoni spesa visto che su 686 domande presentate solo 179 sono quelle che sono state ammesse. I buoni spesa in questione sono quelli finanziati dalla Regione Siciliana e la cui procedura per l'ottenimento, com'è noto,è assai più complessa di quella prevista invece per i buoni spesa messi a disposizione dal governo nazionale. Pare che molte istanze siano state escluse per via della domanda non compilata correttamente. Per Montalbano e Picarella, privare 137 nuclei familiari bisognosi di un beneficio economico che la Regione Siciliana ha messo a disposizione rappresenta un insulto a chi soffre. E non si è fatta attendere la replica del sindaco di Ribera Carmelo Pace per il quale la campagna elettorale in atto gioca brutti scherzi e arriva perfino a generare disordini e confusione. Un aspetto, quello della difficoltà nel compilare le domande, su cui insistono i consiglieri Montalbano e Picarella per i quali circa 500 persone non possono essere private di un sussidio così importante per motivi formali e soltanto per l’incapacità degli amministratori comunali che non hanno previsto di attivare l’assistenza per la compilazione di un modulo. Da qui la richiesta di procedere alla immediata consegna dei buoni già approvati e di riaprire i termini e contattare gli esclusi, aiutandoli a compilare correttamente la domanda, evitando tra l'altro che possano tornare indietro i soldi destinati alla comunità riberese. Non tornerà indietro alcun euro e chi ha sbagliato a compilare la domanda avrà la possibilità di correggere l'istanza, replica Carmelo Pace.
