La Struttura regionale contro il dissesto idrogeologico, con al vertice il presidente della Regione Siciliana Nello Musumeci, interviene in un’area di grande valore turistico e ambientale. Gli Uffici diretti da Maurizio Croce hanno infatti completato le procedure di aggiudicazione dei lavori di consolidamento del costone e di sistemazione del litorale all’associazione temporanea di imprese coordinata dalla Co.Min srl di Mussomeli, in virtù di un ribasso del 32,4 per cento e per un importo di circa 630 mila euro. Si tratta di un intervento molto atteso perchè si pone a tutela della zona archeologica e della frazione marina di Eraclea Minoa, dopo i gravi episodi che si registrarono nel 2009, con crolli e movimenti franosi sulla parete in marna che sovrasta la spiaggia e diverse abitazioni. Il tratto in questione è quello tra Capo Bianco e il centro abitato, esattamente dal versante ovest – in cui predominano le caratteristiche e suggestive rocce di colore bianco – sino a quello orientale che comprende la pineta e una serie di edifici. Il fenomeno che si intende contrastare è lo sfaldamento della parte sommitale del costone marnoso, causato dall’azione degli agenti atmosferici.
Nel frattempo si è anche, in attesa, a settembre, degli altri importanti lavori di contrasto al fenomeno dell’erosione della costa di Eraclea Minoa. Anche in questo caso a giugno, era arrivato il via libera del governo Musumeci all'avvio dei lavori. Il progetto da oltre 4 milioni di euro ha, infatti, finalmente ottenuto il parere favorevole di compatibilità ambientale da parte della commissione Via/Vas dell’assessorato del Territorio e ambiente. L’intervento, com'è noto, servirà principalmente a salvaguardare uno dei litorali più belli della costa agrigentina, mettendolo al riparo dalle mareggiate.
