Un'attività di monitoraggio che non ha precedenti, e che è stata eseguita dal Genio Civile per la valutazione della sicurezza della rete stradale provinciale. In particolare, i liberi professionisti incaricati dalla Regione hanno già consegnato al Genio Civile le schede con i dati relativi alle condizioni di efficienza strutturale di 137 ponti ricadenti lungo le strade provinciali agrigentine. L’obiettivo, afferma il capo del Genio Civile di Agrigento Rino La Mendola, è quello di verificare eventuali criticità che possano compromettere l’efficienza strutturale dei nostri ponti e pertanto la pubblica incolumità. A tale scopo, grazie alle risorse stanziate dal presidente della Regione Nello Musumeci e dall’assessore regionale Marco Falcone, è stato possibile affidare l’incarico ad un gruppo di liberi professionisti che hanno già eseguito gli accertamenti del caso e valutato l’efficienza strutturale di 137 ponti, compilando apposite schede che il Genio Civile ha già inoltrato al Libero Consorzio di Agrigento quale soggetto proprietario della rete stradale, affinché possa adottare ogni provvedimento ritenuto utile per garantire la pubblica incolumità e programmare gli interventi necessari per assicurare l’efficienza strutturale dei ponti e quindi la sicurezza della rete infrastrutturale della provincia, in relazione ai dati rilevati dai professionisti incaricati. Rimangono gli ultimi 19 ponti da verificare, per i quali si aspetta l’avvio delle procedure da parte della struttura centrale dell’Assessorato Regionale Infrastrutture e Trasporti. Sarebbe opportuno, conclude La Mendola, che anche lo Stato, sulla base delle linee guida recentemente varate dal Consiglio Superiore dei Lavori Pubblici, avviasse prima possibile un analogo monitoraggio sui ponti che ricadono sulle strade statali, nella consapevolezza che le infrastrutture strategiche fanno parte soprattutto della rete stradale nazionale.
