nell’ambito delle attività di contrasto alla diffusione della pandemia da Coronavirus. L’analizzatore che sarà utilizzato è quello acquistato dall’associazione “Orazio Capurro-amore per la vita” grazie alla raccolta fondi avviata nello scorso mese di settembre.
Una apparecchiatura che, al momento, sarà in grado di processare contemporanemente 96 tamponi e dare l’esito nel giro di un paio di ore, ma che in futuro dovrebbe essere sostituita da un’altra in grado di analizzare quasi 400 tamponi. Era quest’ultima l’apparecchiatura richiesta dall’associazione Capurro, ma la ditta aveva disponibile solo quella in grado di processare quasi cento tamponi e non si è voluto attendere oltre.
Sarà sostituita prossimamente, ma intanto all’ospedale di Sciacca finalmente possibile processare i tamponi che giornamente vengono effettuati, ma inviati ad Agrigento. Non solo, l’autonomia del laboratorio di biologia molecolare al Giovanni Paolo II consentirà anche di aumentare il numero dei tamponi.
Certamente induce a diverse riflessioni il fatto che l’iniziativa sia dovuta arrivare da una associazione e dall’adesione alla raccolta fondi da parte di tanti cittadini. Lodevole l’impegno, ma come non ricordare che gia a metà dello scorso mese di maggio l’allora commissario per l’emergenza Covid Alberto Firenze, assieme ai vertici dell’ASp, avessero annunciato che entro la fine del mese l’ospedale di Sciacca avrebbe avuto gli strumenti necessari per le analisi dei tamponi rinofaringei. Un grande risultato che consente al Giovanni Paolo II di diventare punto di riferimento per la diagnostica molecolare delle infezioni da Coronavirus. Questo era stato detto, ma siamo a novembre e solo domani sarà inaugurato il centro dove saranno processati i tamponi e grazie all’acquisto dell’analizzatore da parte di privati. L’importante è il risultato, certamente, ma questo è un altro esempio di come sono andate le cose in questi mesi e di quello che effettivamente e al di là degli annunci è stato effettivamente messo in campo per affrontare quella seconda ondata di contagi della quale tutti avevano consapevolezza.
Non dover fare riferimento esclusivamente ad Agrigento avrebbe consentito, ad esempio, di avere in tempo quasi reale i risultati dei tamponi molecolari effettuati alle 54 persone risultate positive ai test rapidi effettuati sabato e domenica a Sciacca, così come già domenica sera aveva comunicato l’ASP . Insomma, magari si sarebbe evitato l’allarme che ovviamente si è generato in città per 48 ore, ossia fino a quando non abbiamo appurato che, in realtà, gli effettivi positivi al Covid erano solo 4. Vicenda che ha fatto discutere, ancorchè portato a tirare un sospiro di sollievo per primi gli interessati, ossia i presunti positivi, ma anche tutti i loro contatti. A voler sdrammatizzare, ma c’è poco da fare ironia, verrebbe da dire “siete su scherzi a parte”. Il rischio, pur conoscendo i limiti dei test rapidi, che infatti devono trovare conferma dai tamponi molecolari, è che le persone poi mettano tutto in discussione, persino che il covid c’è e che non bisogna sottovalutarlo.
Tornando alla questione ospedali, quella che in tutta Italia sta generando il vero allarme, anche in provincia di Agrigento l’ordine dei medici chirurghi ed odontoiatri, interviene per rappresentare le difficoltà di quanti operano negli ospedali agrigentini, l’esigenza che tutti gli operatori siano dotati dei necessari e sufficienti dispositivi di protezione, ma soprattutto per manifestare preoccupazione in relazione agli ospedali misti. Preoccupazione già espressa nella scorsa primavera, ma ribadita oggi a fronte del fatto che nella provincia di Agrigento non è stato attivato un ospedale esclusivamente dedicato alla cura dei pazienti Covid.
