Un simbolo – spiegano i familiari di Bondì - che rappresenta la forza che ha saputo mostrare in questa difficile esperienza, e poi perché lui si dilettava ogni anno, fin quando ha potuto, a raccogliere le olive per ricavarne il suo olio. È stata affissa una targhetta sull’albero, col suo nome. Un’iniziativa che anche altri familiari di vittime del covid hanno assunto in diverse parti d’Italia.
Lo scorso anno il saccense Francesco Bondì venne trasferito in terapia intensiva, dove morì il 22 marzo 2020, senza il conforto di una carezza da parte dei suoi cari e senza la possibilità di un funerale. Un duro colpo per la moglie Maria, per le due figlie Angela e Anna Maria, per i nipoti, per i parenti e per gli amici. Francesco Bondì ha avuto un problema di salute per il quale è stato necessario il ricovero in ospedale: il contagio è avvenuto nel reparto in cui si trovava. Quel malore temporaneo era stato praticamente già risolto ed i medici erano vicini a disporne la dimissione, se non fosse che è accaduto ciò che, invece, non doveva succedere: ammalarsi e morire in un luogo che doveva servire a curarlo.
Per evitare che situazioni come queste abbiano a ripetersi, due settimane fa un parente ha ritenuto di raccontare la sua sfortunata storia in una mail che ha inviato al Presidente della Repubblica, Sergio Mattarella. In risposta, è giunta una lettera dall’ufficio di segreteria del Presidente della Repubblica, nella quale viene riportata la propria vicinanza per l’accaduto ed assicurato un sostegno.“Il Capo dello Stato – si legge nella lettera – non mancherà, ove possibile, di far sentire la propria voce presso gli organi preposti affinché vi sia un maggiore impegno verso ogni singolo malato, al quale si possano si dedicare tutte le cure sanitarie, ma anche le premure speciali dei familiari, nel rispetto della sicurezza”. Un gesto di solidarietà e di premura verso i familiari di Francesco Bondì, ma anche una promessa ad evitare che simili episodi possano, nuovamente, accadere.
