Il tronco una palma tranciata, veromilmente vittima del punteruolo rosso, ha preso nuova vita, si fa per dire, diventando un cestino abusivo della spazzatura ed una sorta di vaso in cui cresce dell'erba spontanea ormai secca. Hanno, invece, funzione di poggiapiedi, i cespugli di erbaccia, questi ancora verdi, nati proprio davanti una panchina. Alla flora naturale si aggiungono anche, degli elementi umani: una sfilza di giornali e volantini, oltre a bottigliette di plastica e pacchetti di sigarette, completano il quadro dell'abbandono e dell'inciviltà presente all'interno del Rione IV Novembre.
Un altro esempio di poca attenzione verso l'arredamento urbano si può riscontrare lungo la via Pietro Gerardi, ad angolo col cortile Calvacca. Qui una fontanella è stata completamente distrutta. È aperta a metà, pericolosa, oltretutto, per i passanti. Diversi, infatti, i fil di ferro che escono dalla struttura, arrugginita al suo interno, mentre il rubinetto esterno è obliquo non riuscendo a stare nella sua posizione naturale. Insomma, non è certo una fontana da ammirare, eppure pare siano diversi i turisti che la immortalano coi prorpri smartphone, come riferiscono i proprietari del ristorante adiacente. Foto che, se pubblicate sui social, non rappresentano, certo, una pubblicità positiva per la città.
