e per bloccarne la vittoria alle elezioni. A promuovere l'iniziativa la CGIL provinciale con in testa Massimo Raso, l'associazione Libera di don Ciotti e l'amministrazione comunale. Presenti, oltre ai familiari, molti esponenti di diversi partiti politici, i sindaci del territorio e gli ex parlamentari Angelo Capodicasa e Giovanni Panepinto. Era proprio il 27 settembre, ma del 1960, quando la mafia uccise Paolo Bongiorno, segretario locale della CGIL ed esponente di spicco del Partito Comunista Italiano, negli anni in cui non vi era conflitto di cariche tra l'essere sindacalista e al contempo esponente politico. La sua attività politica e sindacale fu fermata tragicamente alla vigilia delle elezioni. Le indagini furono incerte e lacunose, furono poi archiviate senza giungere a nulla e senza mai dare piena giustizia e verità ai familiari, presenti ieri alla commemorazione. Sei i figli di Bongiorno, di cui l'ultimo nato pochi mesi dopo la sua barbara uccisione. Queste le parole del nipote Salvatore Bongiorno intervenuto ieri.
