Una iniziativa interessante, un valido esempio di come i comuni, alle prese con la necessità di far quadrare i bilanci, possano comunque garantire i servizi alle loro comunità. La mensa scolastica, abbiamo appreso, non è un servizio obbligatorio, ma è fuor di dubbio che sia comunque importante garantire ai bambini che effettuano il tempo prolungato la possibilità di usufruire del pasto, senza costringere le famiglie a trovare soluzioni alternative al famoso “panino” che, peraltro, in altre realtà italiane ha animato le polemiche politiche e fatto gridare allo scandalo.
La mensa scolastica a Sciacca, ad esempio, non viene garantita da tre anni e, chiaramente, le motivazioni sono di natura economica. I fondi magari vengono stanziati, come nel caso del bilancio 2018, ma poi si rinvia o si rinuncia facendo leva sul fatto che non è un servizio tra quelli ritenuti “fondamentali” e da assicurare obbligatoriamente.
C'è chi, però, percorre altre strade che riescono a contemplare il risparmio con la copertura del servizio.
L'amministrazione comunale di Montevago ha semplicemente stipulato un accordo con l'istituto alberghiero di Sciacca che porterà alcuni studenti , nell'ambito del processo di alternanza scuola-lavoro, a vivere per un anno l'esperienza della preparazione e somministrazione dei pasti nelle scuole.
Si tratta della scuola dell'infanzia “Biagio Marino” e della scuola primaria “Eleonora Gravina, dell'istituto comprensivo “G. Tomasi di Lampedusa” . Il comune di Montevago spenderà 11 mila euro per il servizio di mensa che sarà garantito dagli studenti impegnati nel progetto. La convenzione, che sarà valida solo per l'anno scolastico 2018-2019, consentirà la garanzia della mensa dall'inizio di novembre e fino al 31 maggio del prossimo anno.
Un vantaggio per il Comune, ma al tempo stesso una opportunità di crescita per gli studenti dell'Alberghiero di Sciacca, scuola da sempre aperta alle esigenze del territorio e alle richieste delle amministrazioni comunali. La mensa scolastica gestita dagli alunni dell'istituto saccense è una novità, ma va dato atto al comune di Montevago, guidato dal sindaco Margherita La Rocca Ruvolo, di aver saputo cogliere questa opportunità. Indubbiamente si otterrà un risparmio rispetto alle procedure di affidamento del servizio a privati tramite bando , riuscendo a garantire la mensa ai bambini della scuola dell'infanzia e scuola primaria.
