È la prima di cinque iniziative che la Serr e il Comune svolgeranno in città, aderendo alla decima edizione della “Settimana Europea per la Riduzione dei Rifiuti” con il sostegno della Regione e di altri organismi. “Abbiamo messo a punto – spiegano il sindaco Francesca Valenti e l’assessore alla Gestione dei Rifiuti Carmelo Brunetto– un calendario di cinque azioni, coinvolgendo le scuole, le associazioni Marevivo e Sciacca Pulita, l' Ufficio Ecologia e L’Ufficio ARO. L’obiettivo è la sensibilizzazione dei cittadini sul tema della tutela dell’ambiente nel quale viviamo, e alimentare sempre di più una cultura che dia importanza al gesto virtuoso del singolo cittadino”. Il centro di raccolta della Perriera è stato aperto eccezionalmente questa mattina e lo sarà nuovamente domenica 25 novembre dalle 8:30 alle 13:30 per accogliere i rifiuti pericolosi che i cittadini vorranno smaltire. Nei prossimi giorni saranno anche coinvolti gli studenti. Lunedì 19 ci sarà un incontro con i ragazzi della media Inveges, a cura delle associazioni Marevivo e Sciacca Pulita. Martedì 20, invece, sarà il gestore Sea-Bono ad incontrare gli studenti delle medie Scaturro e Rossi. Domenica 25, infine, ultimo giorno della “Settimana Europea per la Riduzione dei Rifiuti”, oltre all'apertura straordinaria del centro di raccolta della Perriera, le associazioni Marevivo e Sciacca Pulita saranno al lavoro per ripure l'area del porto.
