presieduta dal cardiochirurgo agrigentino Giovanni Ruvolo che da quattordici anni collabora - ad Ipogolo, nella regione di Iringa - con le suore della Comunità Cristiani nel Mondo. Il progetto “Un cuore per Ipogolo” prevede assistenza sanitaria ai più bisognosi, sostegno all’istruzione e alla formazione, adozioni a distanza. Tre i medici impegnati negli screening cardiologici al dispensario di Ipogolo: insieme al professore Ruvolo il cardiologo Paride Giannantoni e il cardioanestesista Andrea Farinaccio. A seguire personalmente i progetti legati alla formazione scolastica e professionale è la volontaria Margherita La Rocca, accomgnata da diversi volontari. Insieme al gruppo di “A Cuore Aperto” don Saverio Pititteri, cappellano dell'ospedale San Giovanni di Dio di Agrigento, che da anni fa la spola tra la Sicilia e la Tanzania dove sta seguendo, tra l’altro, i lavori per una nuova scuola materna che si sta realizzando a Ihimbo, nel distretto di Kilolo, grazie a donazioni di persone dell’Agrigentino.
