L' esemplare è stato immediatamente trasportato all'Ufficio Circondariale Marittimo di Sciacca e successivamente affidato alle cure della squadra del dottor. Gerlando Gallea dell'associazione WWF di Torre Salsa. Considerando l'importanza di tutelare una specie a rischio di estinzione, sia la Capitaneria sia il WWF collaboreranno per restituire la Caretta Caretta al suo ambiente naturale.
L'ufficio circondariale marittimo di Sciacca tiene a ringraziare, ancora una volta, quei cittadini che prontamente segnalano episodi del genere o irregolarità. Grazie alla loro collaborazione è possibile intervenire tempestivamente e salvaguardare in tal modo l'ambiente e le creature di vitale importanza per gli equilibri del mare. Tante attività, in tal senso, sono state incrementate, negli ultimi anni, da associazioni ambientaliste al fine di sensibilizzare i singoli cittadini a rispettare la natura, a segnalare ritrovamenti ed a denunciare comportamenti scorretti: iniziative che, quindi, educano la popolazione e portano ad importanti risultati.
