Tornano le meduse nel mare di Sciacca, una autentica invasione che preoccupa i bagnanti e che rende per certi versi fastidiose le giornate sulla spiaggia. Da qualche anno, ormai, non si tratta più di un evento eccezionale, viceversa è diventata una presenza costante nei nostri mari, e per due ragioni: da un lato per il venir meno dei predatori naturali delle meduse, dall'altro per il riscaldamento costante dell'acqua, a sua volta dovuto ai cambiamenti climatici, se si considera che negli ultimi dieci anni la temperatura della superficie del Mar Mediterraneo è aumentata di un grado centigrado che apparentemente sembrerebbe insignificante e invece non lo è per l'ecosistema marino. Insomma, bisognerà abituarsi a fare i conti con la loro presenza che dapprima era solo sporadica. Tra l'altro, la tipologia di meduse che le correnti hanno favorito è quella tra le più orticanti, la Pelagia Noctiluca, piccola e di colore violaceo e la cui invasione è legata anche al fatto che si riproducono velocemente. Il contatto, com'è noto, è assai fastidioso e a volte doloroso. Per evitarlo, occorre pertanto prestare la massima attenzione quando ci si immerge ed essere particolarmente cauti.
