Pietro Mistretta spiega così le ragioni. Ancora una volta, a giudizio di Mistretta, rischiano di venire mortificate e vanificate gli orientamenti della volontà popolare, così come accadde con il referendum nel quale 27 milioni di Italiani, il 95% dei votanti, dissero no alla privatizzazione dell’acqua, salvo poi essere truffati dai vari governi che si sono succeduti che hanno operato nella direzione opposta a quella democraticamente indicata dai Cittadini. L'AltraSciacca poi aggiunge: “Avevamo dato fiducia a Francesca Valenti, perché aveva paventato la soluzione della società consortile, che forse sarà più complicata, ma che ha regole che più di quelle della Spa garantiscono i cittadini”. E si parla di inversione a U. Società consortile che non persegue finalità di lucro, essendo di proprietà degli enti pubblici che ne fanno parte, con quote non cedibili, con assunzioni, appalti, acquisizioni, etc. seguono procedure di evidenza pubblica e con bilanci che devono essere approvati dai Consigli comunali e il suo controllo è anche demandato alla Corte dei Conti. Ora, che i “politici” pensino che i Cittadini siano utili solo al momento del voto e che quindi si possano ingannare con artifici linguistici, è risaputo, che lo si faccia però con un bene comune come l’acqua è per l'AltraSciacca intollerabile e inaccettabile. E lo è ancor di più inaccettabile se viene avallata da una delibera dell’ATI che sa più di inversione a “U” che di scelta ponderata. La società per azioni, inoltre, è scalabile da privati. E insomma, se l'obiettivo è quello di rendere tutto più snello ed efficiente, Mistretta ricorda che anche Sogeir è una Spa.
