Nella zona di Largo Martiri di via Fani a Ribera ieri è arrivato l'assessore regionale alle Infrastrutture Marco Falcone per un sopralluogo alle case popolari che da sei anni, ormai attendono di essere demolite e ricostruite. Palazzine dello Iacp di Agrigento, costruite con cemento depotenziato, sgomberate ma, in questi anni rioccupate da abusivi e immigrati. Il governo regionale aveva assunto una forte presa di posizione nei mesi scorsi arrivando minacciare un azzeramento dei vertici dello Iacp
La scorsa settimana il Governo Musumeci ha finalmente avviato le operazioni di bonifica e sgombero, propedeutiche all'abbattimento delle abitazioni e alla loro ricostruzione. Ad accompagnare Falcone nella visita, il sindaco di Ribera Carmelo Pace, il direttore del Dipartimento regionale Infrastrutture Fulvio Bellomo, il commissario Iacp Agrigento Gioacchino Pontillo e i vertici dell'istituto.
"In un anno - ha detto l'assessore Falcone a Ribera - abbiamo definito la progettazione e completato l'iter autorizzativo necessario. Non è stato facile, ma alla fine dopo lunghi anni d'attesa l'obiettivo è stato raggiunto. Oggi abbiamo fatto il punto sui lavori di bonifica che termineranno entro il 10 agosto. Ruspe e pale meccaniche entreranno in azione dopo Ferragosto, cancellando uno degli scempi abitativi più infamanti della Sicilia. Poi, da settembre, via libera alla costruzione dei nuovi alloggi per le sessanta famiglie senza casa da anni. Fra un mese ritorneremo a Ribera per prendere visione dei progressi fatti".
"Quella che stiamo per risanare - ha proseguito l'assessore incontrando gli abitanti del quartiere sgomberati - è una ferita personale non solo per tanti nuclei familiari, ma anche per l'intera comunità riberese. Grazie allo sblocco di un intervento da oltre 10 milioni di euro - ha concluso Falcone - il Governo Musumeci riqualificherà un intero quartiere, restituendo dignità alla città di Ribera".
