Sciacca guida una protesta che non è solo dei pescatori locali e che è legata, come è ormai noto, all’entrata in vigore del regolamento comunitario che vieta la pesca a strascico in diverse zone.
La marineria ha voluto investire della problematica il Prefetto di Agrigento Dario Caputo che ha ricevuto una delegazione dei protestanti.
Intanto il sindaco di Sciacca Francesca Valenti ha chiesto una seduta straordinaria del Consiglio comunale, aperta alla deputazione, dedicata alla marineria, al presidente e del Consiglio Pasquale Montalbano.
“Negli ultimi giorni – scrive il sindaco – si è levato forte il grido di protesta della marineria saccense, e di pescatori di altri comuni, sono state promosse delle pubbliche manifestazioni mentre alla categoria viene impedito di raggiungere aree ad alta pescosità come per esempio quella denominata “Est del Banco Avventura”. Sindaco che oggi ha investito della problematica il prefetto ma che ritiene che occorra promuovere altre iniziative. In particolare ha proposto di convocare a breve una seduta straordinaria del Consiglio comunale, coinvolgendo tutta la deputazione locale ed in particolare quella europea, affinché si prenda coscienza della portata del provvedimento UE, del danno causato ad armatori e pescatori, e definire le azioni più efficaci e immediate per venire incontro alle esigenze della categoria”.
