Le schiuse sono previste per fine agosto e fine settembre e l’associazione ovviamente auspica che vada tutto bene e lo spettacolo che la natura ci regala possa ripetersi con le tartarughine in cammino verso il mare. Intanto, sono stati consegnati gli attestati di ringraziamento a chi ha scoperto i due nidi. Per primo Calogero Bono, l’operatore del mezzo meccanico di pulizia della spiaggia che ha eseguito una pronta manovra d’inversione alla vista delle tracce di Caretta caretta salvando le uova da una triste fine.
L’altro attestato di ringraziamento è stato consegnato a Stefano Biazzi, turista torinese, che ha saputo riconoscere le impronte di tartaruga sulla sabbia telefonando subito ai volontari del WWF. Una nota di preoccupazione è stata espressa, invece, per lo stato in cui è stato trovato il primo recinto dei due nidi, dove sarebbero state tolte le fascette di fissaggio della rete di protezione ai paletti. Nessun problema, comunque, perché i volontari del WWF e gli operatori del progetto europeo Euroturtles hanno ripristinato subito tutto. Il sito di nidificazione della tartaruga marina, specie protetta, è un bene pubblico preservato dalla normativa europea e italiana. Chi produce azioni offensive nei confronti della Caretta caretta può essere punito con una sanzione amministrativa fino a 3 mila euro ovvero con l’arresto da 1 a 6 mesi o con l’ammenda fino a 4000 euro. È spiacevole doverlo ricordare, dichiara Giuseppe Mazzota, ma il rispetto della natura non riguarda “altri”, ma investe tutti noi.
