E' questa la proposta, avanzata oggi a Francesca Valenti e Carmelo Pace, dal consigliere comunale di Ribera Emanuele Li Voti per il quale, dunque, occorre che i primi cittadini diano vita ad un comitato che affronti e superi con procedure e metodi straordinari l'emergenza sanitaria ed ospedaliera del territorio. La proposta viene fuori al culmine di una analisi delle condizioni in cui versano il “Fratelli Parlapiano” e il “Giovanni Paolo II”. Ospedali di Sciacca e Ribera che Emanuele Li Voti definisce “un malato da curare urgentemente”. Da troppo tempo, scrive il consigliere comunale riberese, si sottovaluta l'importanza vitale dei due presidi ospedalieri, l'assistenza sanitaria rimane assai precaria a causa della cronica carenza di medici, infermieri ed ausiliari, assolutamente insufficienti, malgrado la loro encomiabile professionalità, per una utenza che si aggira intorno ai centomila abitanti. E anche a giudizio del consigliere Li Voti, il problema più grave rimane quello che riguarda il Pronto Soccorso dei due ospedali dove la situazione è ormai insostenibile. Un progressivo ed inarrestabile decadimento del sistema sanitario ospedaliero che, per Emanuele Li Voti, impone di passare ai fatti, all'azione, alla mobilitazione permanente dei rappresentanti istituzionali della sanità nel territorio che sono, appunto, i sindaci. Da qui, la richiesta del consigliere comunale ai sindaci di costituire con urgenza un comitato permanente dei primi cittadini per costringere il governo regionale a mettere fine ad una emergenza che, a suo dire, ogni giorno mette in serio pericolo la salute degli abitanti di circa venti Comuni.
