L’iniziativa è del gruppo scout Sciacca 2 che ha voluto, attraverso lei, dare un segno di speranza a tutta la città per un Natale che sia illuminato di vera luce spirituale, politica e civica. Al sindaco di Sciacca gli scout hanno anche fatto dono di una pergamena con le belle parole di don Tonino Bello “ Buon Natale, cara città”.
La luce di Betlemme è arrivata a Sciacca dalla chiesa della grotta della natività, dove arde perennemente una lampada ad olio considerata
simbolo universale di pace. Ogni anno, nel mese di dicembre, un bambino che arriva dall’Austria accende da questa
lampada un lume e lo porta in aereo a Linz, in Austria, e da qui la Luce della Pace si diffonde in tutta Europa.
Dal 1986 gli scout collaborano alla distribuzione di questa Luce con staffette ferroviarie attraverso tutta l’Europa, come segno natalizio di Pace e quindi di Accoglienza, Amicizia, Uguaglianza e Fratellanza. In Sicilia, la Luce di Betlemme è arrivata nella tarda serata di sabato. Da lì i rover e le scolte del gruppo Agesci Sciacca 2 l’hanno portata a Sciacca, domenica scorsa, nella Parrocchia di San Pietro alla Marina, nelle altre parrocchie della città e, infine, ieri è stata consegnata al sindaco come segno di dono e augurio all’intera città per un Natale 2019 illuminato dalla speranza di un domani più bello e più sereno.
La Luce della Pace di Betlemme ha infatti un significato che non è solo religioso. Esprime valori etici e morali che sono propri di ogni buon cittadino attivo e quindi, l’auspicio del gruppo Scout Sciacca 2 è che possa illuminare il Natale di tutti i saccensi.
