Anche se le associazioni di categoria lamentano una dilagante crisi del commercio, oggi Confartigianato puntualizza che, al contrario, il settore alimentare appare tutt’altro che sofferente.
Secondo una stima dell’osservatorio economico di Confartigianato, i siciliani a dicembre spenderanno ben 1,1 miliardi per gli acquisti in prodotti agroalimentari, 177 milioni in più del consumo medio mensile del resto dell’anno. In percentuale parliamo del 19% in più. I negozi saranno anche vuoti, ma i supermercati, in questi giorni più che mai, sono, invece, strapieni di gente intenta a riempire carrelli per pranzi e cenoni di Natale e Capodanno. In particolare, sembra che gli acquisti prediletti dai siciliani siano i formaggi ed i latticini, rappresentando oltre il 6% della spesa totale; al secondo posto ci sono i salumi; poi pane e prodotti di panetteria e pasticceria, come panettoni artigianali e dolci del periodo. Nel 2019 la spesa di prodotti realizzati artigianalmente, tra cibi da forno a base di cereali, salumi, formaggi, olio di oliva, dolci e gelati, condimenti e bevande alcoliche, si attesta intorno ai 435 milioni di euro. Un’economia fiorente che è nei periodi di festa che raggiunge il massimo del profitto, grazie non solo agli acquisti effettuati in Sicilia, ma anche nel resto d’ Italia e all’estero. La regione che conta ben 32 prodotti agroalimentari di qualità, di cui: 17 col marchio I.g.p. ( Indicazione geografica protetta ); 14 D.o.p ( Denominazione di origine protetta ) ed 1 S.t.g ( Specialità Tradizionale Garantita ), rappresentando il 10,7% dei 299 prodotti censiti a livello nazionale. Prodotti unici e certificati apprezzati sempre più a livello internazionale, persino in Oriente. L’export agroalimentare in Sicilia vale 659 milioni di euro e tra i primi dieci Paesi di destinazione troviamo: Stati Uniti, Germania, Francia, Giappone, Paesi Bassi, Regno Unito, Malta, Svizzera, Cina e Spagna. Insomma, almeno il settore alimentare sembra essere risparmiato dalla crisi economica.
