aveva assunto l’impegno di coinvolgere e sentire le autorità locali per qualsiasi novità che riguardasse le future scelte sanitarie. E' così che il sindaco di Ribera Carmelo Pace interviene oggi a proposito del nuovo modello organizzativo sanitario regionale che dovrebbe coinvolgere gli ospedali riuniti di Sciacca e Ribera. Tra le ipotesi cui si è fatto riferimento, c'è com'è noto quella di istituire a Ribera il reparto di malattie infettive. Noi non siamo contrari a questa eventuale decisione ma, avverte il primo cittadino di Ribera, a condizione che tutto ciò rappresenti una nuova opportunità di rilancio del Fratelli Parlapiano. Se, viceversa, l'eventuale istituzione dell’infettivologia a Ribera dovesse diventare merce di scambio per trasferire in altre sedi il reparto di riabilitazione gestito dall’Istituto Maugeri, ci opporremo con tutte le nostre forze. Il timore di eventualmente perdere la riabilitazione è legato ad una presunta incompatibilità della contestuale sussistenza tra Fondazione Maugeri e centro per le malattie infettive. Noi questo rischio non intendiamo correrlo, puntualizza Carmelo Pace.
