Sono 14 le misure cautelari disposte dal Gip ed eseguite all’alba da oltre 100 militari della Compagnia Carabinieri di Marsala, dello Squadrone Eliportato Cacciatori di Sicilia, del Nucleo Cinofili di Palermo e del 12^ Reggimento Carabinieri Sicilia. 11 le persone finite in carcere, per altre due è scattato il divieto di dimora nel comune di Marsala e nei confronti di un’ altra persona l’obbligo di dimora.
Sono accusati ,a vario titolo, di traffico e spaccio di sostanze stupefacenti (crack, eroina e cocaina), estorsione, riciclaggio di denaro e lesioni personali. L’operazione denominata “Virgilio” trae origine della indagini condotte dai Carabinieri, coordinati dalla Procura della Repubblica di Marsala, volte a reprimere la fiorente attività di spaccio nel quartiere popolare di “Sappusi”, in particolare nella via Virgilio, a ridosso del centro. Secondo gli inquirenti, anche la giovane deceduta per overdose nell’ottobre 2021 (cui è seguito il tragico suicidio del compagno), si sarebbe rifornita in passato in quella “piazza di spaccio”. Non solo spaccio, alcuni dei quali si sarebbero resi responsabili anche di estorsioni, lesioni personali e persino di un tentato sequestro di persona per recuperare un credito.
Secondo quanto accertato dagli inquirenti, la cessione della droga era gestita da tre gruppi di spacciatori, in concorrenza fra loro, al vertice dei quali figurava sempre una donna. La sostanza stupefacente, proveniente da Palermo attraverso corrieri che effettuavano viaggi su bus di linea, veniva tagliata (spesso grossolanamente) e ceduta all’interno delle abitazioni degli indagati, protette da sistemi di videosorveglianza per verificare l’eventuale arrivo delle forze dell’ordine.
Alcuni assuntori, considerati a rischio di insolvenza da parte degli spacciatori, sarebbero stati costretti a consegnare ai pusher la carta del Reddito di Cittadinanza (fornendo i relativi PIN) in cambio di crack, eroina o cocaina.
Un vero e proprio supermarket h24 della droga, talvolta anche “mal tagliata”, nella totale indifferenza dei pusher.
Tra gli assuntori di crack, secondo i Carabinieri, figura anche un giovane di una famiglia agiata che, in meno di un anno, avrebbe acquistato più di 1.300 dosi di droga pagando oltre 70.000 euro. Lo stesso, non riuscendo tuttavia a pagare l’ultima tranche di stupefacente, cedutagli a credito, sarebbe stato addirittura costretto, tramite gravi minacce, a cedere l’autovettura e la moto di proprietà. La pressante necessità di denaro avrebbe poi spinto quest’ultimo a minacciare l’anziana madre e una zia, condotte per le quali era finito in carcere per estorsione e maltrattamenti.
Gli investigatori ritengono inoltre di aver documentato le modalità con cui sarebbero state riciclate le somme di denaro incamerate con l’attività di spaccio, spesso avvalendosi di prestanome che mettevano a disposizione carte prepagate o conti correnti, sui quali gli assuntori di droga versavano il corrispettivo in denaro, poi consegnato in contanti ai pusher.
Sempre nel mondo degli stupefacenti del marsalese, sarebbe maturato anche l’omicidio di un pregiudicato, ucciso a colpi di piede di porco il 26 settembre dello scorso anno, da uno dei principali indagati dell’odierna operazione, già tratto in arresto con l’accusa del grave fatto di sangue. Dalle indagini è emerso che avrebbe anche tentato di introdurre droga (nascosta in confezioni di cioccolatini) nel carcere di Rossano Calabro dove era recluso per altri reati.
Importante anche la collaborazione dei cittadini di Marsala che, su alcuni social network, avevano segnalato i presunti spacciatori, suffragando così quanto già i Carabinieri stavano documentando con le loro attività tecniche.
