I militari dell’arma hanno ispezionato i veicoli utiolizzati da alcune aziende ittiche di Porto Empedocle e in due dei mezzi hanno trovate pile di cassette di pesca avariato o comunque conservato in modo inadeguato, sopra le quali erano ammassati sacchi di spazzatura e altri rifiuti che contaminavano anche i prodotti alimentari. I carabinieri hanno sequestrato circa 80 kg di pesce avariato e 120 kg di immondizia, mentre per 4 persone, conducenti dei mezzi e proprietari delle ditte individuali è scattata la denuncia a piede libero, oltre a sanzioni amministrative per 10 mila euro. Nei prossimi giorni il materiale sequestro verrà distrutto. I controlli proseguiranno, invece, per evitare che sulle tavole degli agrigentina arrivi e venga consumato pesce non di qualità. Meno di un mese fa, i carabinieri della compagnia di Agrigento erano intervenuti in quello che era stato definito “l’ovile degli orrori” a Raffadali, in quel caso la materia prima oggetto di sequestro era stata latte e prodotti caseari conservati in pessime condizioni igieniche.
